1. How long have you been a studio photographer?
I've been shooting professionally, studio and location, since 1982. My shooting career began in Los Angeles in 1980 as a photo assistant. I relocated to Dallas TX in 1982 where I spent many years shooting for both editorial clients (D Magazine, Texas Monthly, Southern Accents, Veranda Magazine) and catalog clients (Saks fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Dillard's et al.) In 1999 I relocated to Portland, Maine and set up my studio in the vibrant Old Port district.

2. Where is your studio located?
Our studio is located on Exchange Street, in the heart of the historic Old Port district of Portland, Maine. In the summer, the streets teem with people and voices from around the world, their ships waiting at the docks just a few blocks away.

3. How big is your photography studio? Is it a natural/daylight studio?
Our studio measures 1,850 sq. ft. It is located three flights above the street, with seven large windows facing rooftops and open Southwestern sky. We shoot most jobs under typically controlled studio conditions, but many others using natural light, either alone or in combination with studio strobes. This type of shooting can be challenging, but is always rewarding.

4. Do you specialize in still life photography?
I specialize in still life photography, especially fashion accessories for retail catalog and image mailers. Subjects frequently include: shoes, handbags and leather accessories; men's and women's fashion (off-figure); watches and fine jewelry; fragrance and cosmetics; artful home accessories.

Editorial assignments have included food, floral and entertaining concepts; portraits; story illustration.

5. Do you photograph people? Have you done shoots with professional models?
Most of my photography of people has been in an informal and documentary style, and for personal reasons. I have photographed professional models when projects have required them, usually as figures in support of product.
I am eager to test new ideas using models in stylized ways when photographing product.

I plan within the year to shoot lifestyle tests with street-cast models.
